En la parcela de »La Panificadora» encontramos tres problemas: el estado de abandono de los edificios existentes; la impermeabilidad de la parcela, como una zona aislada de la ciudad; el gran desnivel entre el lateral de la Plaza del Ayuntamiento y la Rua Falperra.

Se han tenido en cuenta tres estrategias de proyecto:

-Nuevas cubiertas con lucernarios en las salas de exposiciones

-5 pasarelas se proyectan como puentes que conectan los diferentes edificios rehabilitados. Estas pasarelas sirven como espacios de comunicación y de actividad. Están construídas con costillas metálicas y cerramiento de U-glass.

-La continuación de las costillas metálicas configura la nueva nueva edificación para las viviendas sociales en el lateral de Rua Falperra

In «La Panificadora» site, three main problems have been detected: the State of abandonment and condition of existing buildings; the plot acting as a closed island within the city; and the great unevenness between the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the Rua Falperra.

First of all, working spaces are laid out considering the new models of labour, such as areas of co-working and company incubators. This encourages an active community of users through partnership and joint projects. The potential user profile varies depending on their activity (science, art, technology…) and their level of expertise, promoting the widest possible participation.

Secondly, new spaces for exhibition and communication are added to this “creation” program: Multipurpose classrooms, exhibition and performance halls, and production workshops.

The Silo, grain storage building, is thought as the information storage, sheltering the library, reading and screening rooms.

Finally, the program is completed in the buildings of the Rua Falperra with their rehabilitation and expansion to provide commercial premises on the ground floor and access to the dwellings and the Panificadora. Taking advantage of the change of level of the plot and adapting to its buildings, a parking of 35 lots is projected. In higher levels, volumes are expanded in order to complete a consolidated elevation, social housing opening to the interior space of the plotare located there.

A series of applications are proposed to convert the plot it into a center of activity for Vigo. Existing buildings that can be recovered are used to host new uses and programs, while the ones in ruined situation are removed, cleaning the set to create a public continuous space in the interior of the plot.

Three project strategies are taken into account:

-New covers with skylights are added at the exhibition spaces.

– 5 bridges are built across the rehabilitated buildings connecting different uses and spaces. These gateways act both as spaces of communication as for activity. They consist of metal ribs and a building skin of U-glass, with skylights of folded sheet metal covers.

-An extension with metal ribs and blinds is made on the existing buildings of the Rua Falperra in order to accommodate the social housing program.
